Jordan Joins Jack in Elite Club

That was something else for sure. One of the most interesting rounds of golf I’ve ever seen in a major. No way though they should have allowed Jordan Spieth over twenty minutes on the 13th to get that kind of relief on a sight of line ruling. Kuchar with all the momentum, had to sit there and wait and wait and wait.

But I’ll say this for Jordan Spieth—he’s a bonafide bulldog and what the game of golf desperately needed after Tiger Woods decided he needed to screw every escort in the world.

Jordan Spieth now joins Jack as only the second golfer ever to win three different majors by the age of twenty-four. Only the PGA Championship eludes him and of course that comes in August.

After the bogey on the 13th, he promptly turned on the switch going five under in the next four holes. Kuchar didn’t choke—he just was in the wrong place at the wrong time when Jordan Spieth went into full Jack Nicklaus bulldog mode.

Spieth, Dustin Johnson, and Rory are the three guys from this point forward to carry the game of golf. It was good to see Rory get his game back on track. Matt Kuchar is a wonderful golfer, but my advice to him would be—do you want to be the nicest guy on the tour or start winning some majors. He and Ricky Fowler kind of similar in that vein to me.

Golf has its alpha bulldog in place and that’s good for the game. For crying out loud, Steph Curry was tweeting shit about that back nine. Maybe Kuchar and Fowler should ask if they could be traded to Team Spieth. Durant wouldn’t hesitate—we can only be grateful he’s not an elite golfer.

Anyway, great day for golf. Traber doesn’t need to keep ranting about Tiger Woods. Nobody cares anymore. How sad is all that from a human perspective? What a tragic waste of a career and a legacy.

The Arnold Palmer commercial was equally awesome. As a fourth grader I attended by first junior golf clinic in the fourth grade at Lincoln Park and became somewhat of a golfer. Bobby Tway’s family took me out to Lincoln Park that day. I wanted to be just like Arnold and so did almost every other kid out there. Bobby Tway went on to win the 1986 PGA Championship with the iconic holed out bunker shot.

Bobby and his family moved to Georgia several years after that clinic at Lincoln Park. He came back and went to O State and played for Holder. In 1986, he won five tournaments and was the PGA Player of the Year. As much as I loved Arnold, this is my favorite golf highlight of all-time because of how nice he and his dad were to me. I’m grateful they got me interested in golf.

Parts of Arnold’s memorial service. His two biggest rivals, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player loved him like a brother. You don’t see sportsmanship and class like that anymore in sports. Jordan, Dustin, Rory, and maybe Jason Day—you are the present and future of golf.

The Sean Spicer Era Ends

I’ll miss him. Going from Sean Spicer to Anthony Scaramucci is like going from Pee Wee Herman to Michael Corleone. Trump just went Godfather with this move. Beware…Jeff Sessions—you would appear to be the most likely Fredo candidate. If ever a goofy little southern redneck fuckstick deserved to end up in the bottom of a body of water—it would be this peckerhead or maybe Ted Cruz.

Hard to believe it was only six months. Feels like several lifetimes to me.

I’ll miss him. It won’t be the same. Scaramucci is a self made billionaire and a Harvard law school graduate. Pretty much all the things Trump and his two weak dick sons wish they were. He reminds me so much of Michael from the Godfather.

Welcome to the Anthony Scaramucci Era.

Dog Day Summer Welcome Music for Paul George

It’s too damn hot in Oklahoma to write about Thunder basketball this week. Trump isn’t worth the time except for the occasional snarky comment which illustrates what a complete junk bond piece of shit he truly is.

So—I thought I might put another song on here for Paul George. In reality, I went to John Marshall and pretty much have considered myself a partial brother even though my birth certificate says otherwise. One of the truly great things about John Marshall–skin color never mattered. This was my favorite high school song at John Marshall. One we pretty much sang in the parking lot after practice with it glaring from someone’s car stereo. Thunder should use this as their theme song this season if you ask me.

Who Could Have Known Health Care Could Be This Complicated?

So….. if you’re one of these whites in a New Confederate state like say– Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, or West Virginia….does this mean the focus now goes back on Building the Wall and Who’s Gonna Pay For that Wall?

Who could have possibly known the nuance of health care reform could be this delicate? Who amongst us could have possibly known this would be more difficult than passing a NASCAR Trivia Exam or knowing the do’s and don’ts of furniture store sport fucking?

Who could have possibly known?

I almost forgot. I haven’t done this in a couple of months in that it doesn’t make musical sense with the Russians.

More Favorite Things

It’s Sunday morning—that time of the week. Time to not watch the Sunday morning news shows in the hope I won’t depress myself into a stupor. Time to hope Caligula doesn’t do away with everything good since WWII, the Marshall Plan, Nato, winning the Cold War, the Civil Rights movement, the expansion of the middle class, and so on—and just basically being the greatest country in the history of the world these past seventy years.

Just the hope that Mattis and McMaster can prove to be the ultimate firewall to protect what we once viewed as America versus just a really obnoxious real estate con artist trying to do away with the alternative minimum tax.

So—-here’s Will Ferrell singing Bob Goulet.

My Favorite Seinfeld Scene. Kramer hosting the Merv Griffin Show from his apartment.

Can Paul George Fall in Love With Oklahoma?

I don’t know. If I were a black stud athlete like either Russ or Paul George—-I’m not sure I could play in Oklahoma knowing Caligula carried the state by seventy per cent or so. Yeah, the fans are loyal, but it’s a state where you still kind of get the feeling Dwight D Eisenhower is the president.

I’m just saying if I were a young black man I don’t know why I would want to stay in such a politically regressed state. I mean, for crying our loud, these people re-elected Mary Fallin–so you kind of get the litmus test there.

If Durant had just come out and said, “I can’t play here anymore because of Fallin and Trump,” I would have had some empathy for him.

But at the end of the day–it’s about winning. If Russell can morph his game just a bit and allow Paul George to become a serious MVP candidate while the Thunder get to the Western Conference Finals—then I think there’s chance he stays a while.

I love the part in this video where the dude evokes the name of Reggie Jackson as to prove Russell’s shortcomings. Game 6 and those last four minutes sent Kevin Durant to the Warriors. It’s about winning.

Chris Broussard is probably my favorite NBA talking head. So here’s this.

Nick Signs a One Year Deal

Without Nick Collison, Thunder basketball wouldn’t feel right for me. Sam Presti made some great moves this summer and made another one this week when he signed Nick Collison to come back for another year. Granted, Nick only played in twenty games last season and only averaged 6.4 minutes a game, but what Nick brings for me at least is knowing the Thunder’s fifth big is one of the smartest, toughest basketball players I’ve ever seen. Plus, he’s one of the best passers I’ve ever seen in a big player. He knows the game.

To me, Nick Collison is Thunder basketball. Period.

With Steven, Patrick, Enes, and Jerami in front of him–minutes will be tough to come by for Nick, but what a nice luxury it is for Billy Donovan to have a guy like Nick Collison there for him when the need arises.

Collison has always been my favorite Thunder player both on and off the court. His volunteer work with kids at the Children’s Hospital is notorious. His interviews are more like coaching primers than player-speak. I’m fully hoping Nick Collison stays with the Thunder organization after his playing days are over.

But I agree with Nick. I think he still has something left in the tank for a role which doesn’t demand wear on his body every game.

Pretty close to a perfect summer for Sam Presti.
