From a starting quarterback in a Super Bowl with San Francisco to being blackballed by NFL owners it has become apparent Colin Kaepernick had a worthy message to share with his country.
His former team is now flying the Black LIves Matter flag next to the American flag. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has done an about face on Colin Kaepernick in light of the recent police misconduct of late whch was caught on cell phones.
We’ll see if Colin Kapernick lands a roster spot on an NFL team or perhaps continues to be a national spokesperson for Black Lives Matter. I don’t see why both aren’t possible at the same time.
This is nice for both Lu Dort and the Oklahoma City Thunder. He gets a four year deal worth $5.4 million and Sam Presti gets a very affordable defensive role player who will provide some toughness to go along with SGA and Darius Bazely moving down the road.
I don’t think of Dort as a Pat Beverly type, but more I envision at some point hopefully Dort can evolve into what Marcus Smart has beome in Boston. Same body. Same on court attitude. Offense needs some polish.
Presti loved Marcus Smart when he was at O State, and lo and behold he now has undrafted Lu Dort from Arizona State as his version of a very affordable version of Smart.
Another Canadian. We now have Chuba Hubbard from the Mullet King saga, Lu Dort, and the future face of the Thunder fanchise Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in central Oklahoma.
This is nice for me because I like Dort and enjoy watching his hustle all over the floor. He’s gotta work really hard on improving his shot, but I think it’ s good deal for the Thunder given they paid very little. Classic Sam Presti move.
Marcus is easily my favorite O State player to not come from the Eddie Sutton era in Stillwater. Marcus overcame quite a bit as a one parent kid from Texas to get to where he is today in Boston. It’s an inspiring story of sticking with it.
If you put Marcus Smart alongside SGA you’d have something very special. So..I think this is what Sam Presti is hoping can happen someday in Oklahoma City if Dort’s offensive game has some growth to it with hard work and diligence paying off down the road.
I got home just in time for the sunset. The owls are very active along our forest line right now with the milder temps holding all week so far.. Just as darkness ebbs in you can here them along our forestline. Very relaxing with a gin and tonic and a song like this timeless classic from Roberta Flack. Time to kick back.

So now Texas is urging to people to start using some common sense with staying at home, spacing, and the wearing of masks in public.
Oklahoma is having spike as well and the numbers from the stupidity displayed in Tulsa this past week-end haven’t even been absorbed in a two week wake of sorts.
College football teams reported last week and defending national champion LSU had thirty players test positive for the virus. I believe Clemson had twenty-four players test positive.
The European Union has now placed a ban on travelers from the United States given there appears to be no leadership whatsoever from Donald Trump in relation to using common sense in dealing with the virus
This isn’t complex. Stay at home as much as possible. Space when in public settings. Wear a mask in public. Wash your hands. Don’t be a complete idiot like the sitting president of the United States and be safe.
There is no real historical comaprison at this point. Donald Trump is a one-trick racist pony who has yet to show any real skill, polish, or evolution as a politician and a leader.
It’s a shame the people in Oklahoma like Mike Gundy and the leaders of the Republican party in the state don’t have a better grasp of American history as it pertains to the South.

Here’s the difference betwen OU and O State…OU is an urban school and O State is a rural school. Blue and red. A micrososm of the divide in our country. I would say the blue at OU is a very light shade of blue.
O State is hard red to the core. I would be surprised if they have a regent who’s ever voted for a non-Republican in their life. I will say I do like Burns Hargis and I’ve never thought of him as a wingnut. In fact…I think he went to law school at OU.
But here’s the difference in the two schools. Stoops, Boren, and AD Joe Castiglione immediately closed down this fraternity and stood with their black players.
In Stillwater…Mike Gundy proudly wore the T-shirt of the Breitbart of the cable news business and he still has his job.
Don’t think black players and black parents will forget this. They won’t and they shouldn’t. Quality white players and parents…ditto.

Good for OKC Mayor Holt for not allowing that bullshit in Oklahoma City. But still it will have an impact on Oklahoma City. Kevin Stitt will be mentioned in the same breath with Mary Fallin with this type of decision making. Total Trump puppet.
I think this is what Chuba Hubbard is trying to say to Mike Gundy. I also think every white person in the state of Oklahoma should watch A Time to Kill at some point in their own individual evolution.
