Pray For Donald Trump and Our Country

My father was a trial lawyer like the Jake Brigance character in the movie A Time To Kill. My dad was indeed a skilled courtroom orator. He had a natural ability to tell a story to a jury and make them like his client.

My dad basically became a street lawyer after graduating at the top of his law school class. He landed a job at a top tier firm in downtown Oklahoma City, but became bored after a year then set out on his own with his best friend to start a small practice.

They did everything… quite a bit of pro bono work as well. The common guy was who they basically represented. Working class people who needed a skilled voice in the courtroom by their side.

Being a lawyer is not glamorous. It’s brutal and debilitating at times dealing with your clients’ problems. To be able to do it for a long time you need have a true sense of empathy for the human condition or you will lose your mind.

My dad passed on August 23rd, 2016 and not a day since has passed in which I haven’t thought about my father and Donald Trump.

My father would despise Donald Trump for his lack of empathy towards others. He would not be able to connect to that coldness of heart which is Donald Trump.

But you pray at some point people will smarten up and do the right thing.

You pray and cling to the fervent hope there is good in all of us.
