Mike’s Labor Day Music-Fest Windup

It was fun having a Labor Day music-fest. I didn’t watch a minute of the Navy-BYU college football game. Back to the NBA grind.

  1. Great music- really enjoyed, esp Rocket Man.
What do you think of the Thunder coaching decision? This is somewhat rhetorical 🙂

  2. It was expected becaue the Thunder are going to be tanking this upcoming season. This is not without precedent with Billy Donovan. He backed out of his Orlando Magic contract in 2008 when it became apparent how tough the road was going to be.

Let’s not forget…Billy only became the Thunder coach when Kevin Durant, Westbrook, and Serge Ibaka were the core. I’m pretty sure any basketball coach at any level would have agreed to coach those three at that point.

I’m guessing Billy figures he’s a hot commodity right now considering the job Chris Paul did with the team and I’d look for him to end up on a contending tend as this unwinds.

He was 7-18 in post season play from the point OKC was up 3-1 on the Warriors. His teams in Oklahoma City never won a series without Kevin Durant despite some hefting payrolls and some pretty good players on the roster.

A guy like Donovan would seem like a natural if the North Carolina, Duke, or Kansas jobs at the college level came open.

One of his sons works for the Spurs. Maybe Pop has had enough. It will be interesting to see where he lands.
