It was a great NBA three point shooting contest with former OU National Player of the Year Buddy Hield winning the championship over Devin Booker on his last shot. Great stuff. For OU fans it was doubly special because the other recent OU National Player of the Year…Trae Young was in the contest as well.
The dunk contest could have been epic. But I think the NBA handled it all wrong. Both Jones and Aaron Gordon should have been awarded a share of the championship as neither one of their final dunks was a game winner in my view. Quite frankly—the NBA embarrassed itself on this one. Like me, the Chicago crowd sat in stunned silence as once again Aaron Gordon was screwed in the NBA Dunk Contest.

Q: Would Bernie Sanders becoming the Democratic nominee be a disaster for the Democratic Party in November?
As much as I disdain Donald Trump with his bullying bluster, tiny little hands, and timely bone spurs– I would have to answer….. yes.
Like Smerconish, I’m a former Republican who has been voting as an independent since 2000. I don’t consider myself a crazy driving in either of the extreme lanes of ideology which have paralyzed our country.
But it wasn’t just Donald Trump who drove me away from the GOP. It was the Tea Party which preceded him.
I try to be fair and think things through.
Let’s start with what is the technical definition of what Sanders believes as per the definition of being a Socialist Democrat.
“Democratic Socialism describes a socialist economy where production and wealth are collectively owned, but the country has a democratic style of government. The goal of democratic socialism is to achieve socialist goals of equality, while opposing authoritarian socialists ideology.
As a term democratic socialism was popularized by social democrats who were opposed to the authoritarian socialist development in Russia and elsewhere during the 20th century.”
In the recent primary in New Hampshire in a state with little diversity the combined vote of Sanders and Elizabeth Warren collected 38% of voters and that doesn’t take into account independent Trump supporters who intentionally voted this way to make Trump’s path to becoming a two term president much easier with Sanders atop the Democratic ticket.
Having Sanders at the top of the ticket would also hurt the Dems in the House and the Senate as reasonable moderates like myself in no way in hell would ever want either body of government controlled by the same party as Bernie Sanders.
This is why you’ve seen James Carville losing it on cable news the past ten days or so.
Interestingly…Sanders’ own individual net worth has increased from $1 million to around $3 million since 2016 in the wake of making $1.7 million in book royalties from three books he’s written. Sanders and his wife now have three homes and recently acquired their first dacha near Lake Champlain. Google dacha if you don’t have any democratic socialists in your inner circle. Just to be clear… Socialist Bernie has approximately the same net worth as Lindsey Graham. Oh, really.
Bernie and his wife will not be in the upper 1 per cent he rails about until their net worth gets to the $10 million net worth plateau. But of course that won’t occur until two more books are written after the loss to Trump in the general election.
Long story short, not even taking Michael Bloomberg’s fate into account, there’s no way I would vote for Bernie Sanders…and, yes, I do think his candidacy would be horrific for the Democratic Party.
Americans don’t want open borders. They don’t want overtly punitive tax rates. They don’t want non-citizens or people in prison voting for them. They do however want to keep their own doctor of choice. Americans want even handed pragmatic governance for all those who have the spirit to walk through the door to be a part of the American Dream.
Like James Carville with his rants…I would suggest the Democratic Party get it’s act together…in a hurry.
The power of incumbency with the Bully Pulpit and a one billion dollar war chest are on the side of Donald Trump. I would ignore every poll. Polls mean nothing related to Trump. The presidency will not be up for grabs if Bernie Sanders is the nominee.
Danilo Gallinari’s 29 points led the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 123-118 road win over the New Orleans Pelicans to close out the pre All-Star Game portion of the season.
Rookie Zion Williamson led the Pels with 32 points and kept New Orleans in the game until around the eighteen second mark of the game. It was an exciting game with fairly good flow throughout and with the win the Thunder head into the All-Star break on a high note with a record of 33-22 which puts the Thunder in the No. 6 Seed.
For a team which wasn’t supposed to even be trying to win games this late in the season…this was kind of a big game for the Thunder as they broke a two game losing streak.
All told Six Thunder players scored in double figures. Dennis Schroder, Shai G. Alexander, Steven Adams, Chris Paul, and Mike Muscala all scored timely baskets to give Gallinari enough offensive support to lead the Thunder to their eighth straight road win which is a franchise record for the Thunder while in Oklahoma City.
Steven Adams looked better physically running the floor and hit his first three pointer of the season swishing a last second three to end the first half giving the Thunder a four point lead at intermission.
With 27 games left in the regular season after the break the Thunder would need to go at the minimum 17-10 to reach the 50 win plateau which would be the first time since Kevin Durant’s last season in Oklahoma City the Thunder would have done as such.
For Steven Adams the break would appear to be timely as it should give him a chance to get his body healthy and some bounce back in his step. With a refreshed Adams and no key injuries the 50 win plateau shouldn’t be a pipe dream. This team’s smarts, free throw shooting, and ability to play on the road should give this team a chance to fight for the No. 6 seed or maybe even the No. 5 seed depending on how Houston holds together without Clint Capela.
As far as the trade deadline, the Thunder held pat with Gallinari and I think were wise in doing so. Presti can at the worst sign and trade or at the best resign Gallinari to a three year deal which he was seeking at the deadline.
From my conversations with Thunder fans throughout the city it’s been the same response as in….. thrilled. The fans and the city are thrilled to have a team which in one season has gone from one of the dumbest teams in the league to one of the most intelligent poised teams in the NBA.
Two words, as in…… Chris Paul.
The break will give me some time to work on the Melania FLOTUS Slovenian Secret Diaries. As an aging white male in Oklahoma I think this fairly well sums up what Little Donalt has done to my emotional stability in three years.

I put this on my blog now because Michael Bloomberg is having to go through the ritual of having a Twitter war with the corrupt-fat-stupid- tiny handed-bone spur-worthless-grifter- stupid fuck POTUS who was thrust into office by some of the more uninformed whites in our country.
What so many of Trump’s supporters don’t even realize is that a good portion of Trump’s Twitter rants aren’t even written by him. Dan Scavino–one of Trump’s former caddies and drivers has actually perfected the Trump style on Twitter. It’s not a difficult syntax to immolate. It’s a reach out to the whites who used to turn onto Jerry Springer and Howard Stern before both of them grew up and became human beings.
There’s no New York comparison to Trump and Bloomberg whatsoever. One is a self-made billionaire, the other is a make believe grifter who inherited $414 million from his daddy and went bankrupt five times in route trying to fuck anything with a pulse.
Bloomberg is a philanthropist, Trump is a parasite and probably to a certain degree the motivation for the Oscar winning film from South Korea.
Bloomberg to date has given away somewhere around $7 billion dollars to various causes related to public health, arts and culture, the environment, social equality, education, and governmental innovation.
Donald Trump uses his spare change to chase upper tier escorts, models, upscale prostitutes, and anything with a pulse named either Stormy or Destiny.
Bloomberg gave a unique donation to one his alma maters John Hopkins in the amount of $1.8 billion which is used to help aspiring students regardless of race, economic standing, or religious beliefs.
Donald Trump chases pussy with his tiny-little hands and plays golf.
Here’s the thing though…Bloomberg or whoever is writing for him on his Twitter feed can’t just stop this ritual with Trump and Scavino before it is clear for all see to what ends ‘Bone Spur’ will go to in claiming Twitter supremacy.

You know why no one in the Democratic Party or any party for that matter ever asks Bernie Sanders to make an endorsement for them?
Two-fold…1 Because he’s never done much of anything in his senate career of any significant consequence, and… 2 his ideas are so over the top absurd they don’t want their political brand confused with his.
Truth be told, if you took a private poll of all one-hundred U.S senators from both parties you know who would garner 75-80 votes as the senator most qualified to run for president?
Michael Bennet…not Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders wouldn’t even make a top ten list. Is it somewhat strange that the most qualified member of the U.S. Senate dropped out of the race yesterday while evidently a Sanders staffer was releasing a video of Mike Bloomberg’s comments in regards to stop and frisk back when he had the tough task of addressing mass racial homicides in two areas of his jurisdiction. Bernie Sanders would never make any tough decision in this regard. He’d do nothing except talk, sow discontent, and suggest a death tax on those in our society who work for a living.
Isn’t it strange this Sanders’ staffer released the video on the day on which it was revealed Bloomberg’s surge with African-American voters as the candidates get closer to the South Carolina primary.
Now one might understand why Hillary Clinton said what she said recently in regards to Bernie Sanders.
But in the end, the truth and understanding of the situation then in New York City will be explained within a context of the problems then and now with gun and gang violence in our cities.
But again, Bernie Sanders has never done anything of any political consequence which would put him under the microscope for second guessing.
We’ll have to wait and see who our first black president endorses if and when it comes down to Michael Bloomberg or Bernie Sanders.
After four years of Donald Trump, Steven Miller, and Sean Hannity running roughshod over the constitution it appears the far left lane of the Democratic party seems to think Bernie Sanders is the answer to save the country from itself.
I find this to be an adorable fantasy.
The odds of Mike Gundy winning back to back national championships at Oklahoma State would be a much more nuanced money play in Vegas.
I sit stunned this is how 18-19% of our country think this is the answer to defeating Donald Trump as we embark on the Election of 2020.
The turnout in New Hampshire last night exceeded that of 2008 with Obama, but the new vote didn’t go to Bernie Sanders and it certainly didn’t go to Elizabeth Warren. There is no national hunger for Eugene McCarthy or George McGovern to be the opponent of Donald Trump circa 2020.
To unseat Donald Trump the Dems need two things from their candidate…1 having an extremely qualified candidate, and 2 the nominee having the inner toughness of a rattlesnake.
Putting Michael Bloomberg aside… the notion the Dems are going to retake the White House by voting in a Democratic National Socialist who wants to take health care away from 180 million Americans who play by the rules is an amusing thought.
This might play in Denmark…. middle America not so much.
As far as search and frisk…why don’t we wait and see who the two most revered black politicians in America have to say about Michael Bloomberg…. as in Barack and Michelle Obama. I’m almost certain they won’t be waving a Bernie Sanders banner at the convention.
Moving forward–I’ll be inserting some occasional Rick Wilsonism’s on my blog as we all attempt to make balanced… intelligent decisions moving forward to help steer our country from hitting another Donald Trump iceberg in November.
This would qualify as a bad loss, but in fairness with the exception of Chris Paul’s 31 point performance the entire team was fairly bad in this 114-106 setback inside of Chesapeake Energy Arena.
The entire team had the appearance that the bleak, drizzly, cold weather in Oklahoma City on Tuesday set their mood on the floor. I felt like shit myself all day. I didn’t want to move. I get it. This was one of those days you just wanted to eat hot soup with your dog and lay by a fireplace watching the results come in from New Hampshire.
Other than Chris Paul—they all played poorly and with little energy.
You need go no further than this singular stat… combined Gallinari, Dennis Schroder, and Steven Adams were a combined 13-39 from the field. With rookie Darius Bazely already out with a knee injury the team needed a big night from Nerlens Noel to stabilize the rotation. This didn’t happen as Noel himself was only able to play eight minutes due to an injury.
This was a game the Thunder should win, but by the same token, this San Antonio team isn’t so horrific it’s like losing to the Warriors or Knicks or Oklahoma State this season.
For this Thunder team to win four of the top five players need to play well. It can’t just be Chris Paul. The success of the team to date has been the play of Chris Paul, Dennis Schroder, Gallinari, and Shai Alexander all pulling their weight making big shots. Doing little things. Making big plays.
This loss wasn’t about Billy Donovan or Lu Dort or Terrance Ferguson or the rotations…more to the point it was about the core guys minus Chris Paul struggling on the same night on a bleak winter night in Oklahoma City.
As far as New Hampshire this was simple. Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren had worse nights than the Thunder… while Amy K filled the moderate lane and has the appearance of someone who might actually be qualified to be POTUS or at the least Vice-President. I’ll write about search and frisk tomorrow given I attended a black high school and share my thoughts with Bernie Sanders and his staff on the subject.
My official 2020 campaign coverage starts today in New Hampshire with the first legitimate primary of the season. In reality–this fall’s Electoral College map has already been colored in around thirty-five states or so.
To quote former GOP operative Rick Wilson, “Fight where the fights are.” Don’t waste your time in states you have no chance in winning.
There’s no need for Donald Trump to campaign in California, New York, and Massachusetts.
Likewise—there’s no chance of Michael Bloomberg winning states like Oklahoma, West Virginia, or Alabama. Sorry Doug Jones…what you did was courageous, but you just became an ex-member of the Unites States Senate.
New Hampshire though with only four Electoral College votes… I think could go either way in November.
Of course in tonight’s New Hampshire primary the Dems have an openly married gay man opposing an advocate of the National Socialist Party for the win in this primary.
Call me cynical if you might, but I don’t really think that’s the winning ticket to defeating an incumbent president with a good economy.
It’s not that I have anything against openly gay people or National Socialists per se…it’s just that I think maybe this time the Democratic Party should at least give itself a puncher’s chance of removing Donald Trump from the White House.
Let’s circle this in red for the time being, no Democratic candidate will win the White House unless they get the African-American vote behind them in full force in cities like Milwaukee, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia to name several. This is square one of fighting the fight where it needs to be fought regardless of what Hillary Clinton and Robbie Mook did in 2016.
In the most recent poll it is Michael Bloomberg eviscerating Joe Biden’s popularity with the black vote. It’s not Pete B or the National Socialist. It’s Michael Bloomberg in spite of the stop and search policy he embraced in NYC as mayor.
Even in godforsaken racist Oklahoma…I was amazed at the number of young and old blacks standing with me in the long line to get inside the building at the Bloomberg rally in OKC.
Remember now…I’m black myself moving forward. I do this because I’d be embarrassed to ever publicly admit I was a clueless white peckerhead who voted for Donald Trump and wasn’t even smart enough to vote in my own self interest.
You know… like caring about pre-existing conditions, Social Security, and Medicare. But of course we all know real Trump purists in Oklahoma who aren’t RINO’s in spirit never take part or care about such things or programs. As true Darwinian fiscal conservatives they don’t participate in receiving any of these benefits. They give the money back to the U.S Treasury.
That was sarcasm.
Anyway… Iowa doesn’t matter. It’s a predominantly white state which with two senators like Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst will go for Trump even though their farmers were shredded by Trump’s trade deals. But of course, these Darwinians will accept their portion of the $28 billion farm assistance welfare offered to them by Donald Trump, Lawrence Kudlow, and Peter Navarro.
But enough of me bashing white people on my blog. I’m becoming a racist.
Let’s see who takes Joe Biden’s votes in New Hampshire for the time being.
