Pray For Donald Trump and Our Country

My father was a trial lawyer like the Jake Brigance character in the movie A Time To Kill. My dad was indeed a skilled courtroom orator. He had a natural ability to tell a story to a jury and make them like his client.

My dad basically became a street lawyer after graduating at the top of his law school class. He landed a job at a top tier firm in downtown Oklahoma City, but became bored after a year then set out on his own with his best friend to start a small practice.

They did everything… quite a bit of pro bono work as well. The common guy was who they basically represented. Working class people who needed a skilled voice in the courtroom by their side.

Being a lawyer is not glamorous. It’s brutal and debilitating at times dealing with your clients’ problems. To be able to do it for a long time you need have a true sense of empathy for the human condition or you will lose your mind.

My dad passed on August 23rd, 2016 and not a day since has passed in which I haven’t thought about my father and Donald Trump.

My father would despise Donald Trump for his lack of empathy towards others. He would not be able to connect to that coldness of heart which is Donald Trump.

But you pray at some point people will smarten up and do the right thing.

You pray and cling to the fervent hope there is good in all of us.

Conservative Columnist George Will On Donald Trump

‘An embarrassing wreck of an insecure man’ is how former Republican conservative columnist George Will refers to Donald Trump.

I’ve never written this on my blog in those words.

I’ve called him a con artist, a pussy grabber, a racist Birther, a rogue, a hustler, a real estate grifter, a pathological liar, a buffoon with little nuance if any, a total human junk bond, a man with tiny little hands, but I’ve never necessarily described Donald Trump like the father of modern contemporary conservatism did in this piece in the Washington Post.

You’ll never hear a current Trump supporter ever cite George Will or William Buckley because either they don’t read or those sources won’t enable their views.

In fact Peggy Noonan, Tom Friedman, Mark Brooks, Kathleen Parker or any reputable columnists will never be cited as well.

Only the names Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity will come to their lips. All others are called RHINOs….Republicans In Name Only.

You’ll also never hear Trump supporters cite math, history, physics, economics, or science as important in deciphering their current views on the world.

Just the two freak show pundits…Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh.

You’ll also never hear a Trump supporter of late mention the names Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, Bush 41, Bush 43, John McCain or Mitt Romney with anything resembling warmth or admiration.

But of course…there was the one exception when the human embarrassment by the name of Mike Pence compared this Donald Trump to Teddy Roosevelt in an obvious act of kissing the emperor’s ring.

This is what you get in states like Oklahoma who put little into their educational value system as states. It’s very simple if you doubt my word.

Simply google the bottom fifteen states in our country as per to what they take from the federal government to stay afloat and what they contribute to the U.S. Treasury.

Some lessons die very hard in places like Oklahoma when you never come to grips with the reality and correlation of education to long term success.

Steven Schmidt Lincoln Project Ad

I love Steven Schmidt.

He is correct. Have faith, make the right choice at the ballot box and this period of unfiltered debauchery and decadence from the Trump White House will hopefully be in our rear view mirror as a nation.

As a nation we have never been lower than perhaps the Civil War itself.

Be true to yourself in your convictions and be kind even to the Trump rabble. They weren’t always deplorables per se. Perhaps when this is over we can institute state Trump rehab centers where we will rehabilitate these people where we can perhaps at some point allow them to vote again in our national elections.

God bless America.

If George Could Be A Marine Biologist Then Why Couldn’t Dopey Become POTUS

I’m almost certain this is how it happened. Trump watched this epic episode of George pretending to be a marine biologist…and the light switch went on in that tiny little mind of his.

“If George can be a marine biologist, then why can’t I become President of the United States?” Trump must have asked himself out loud.

Then…of course, Obama skewered him at the Correspondents Dinner…and the rest is history.

Some…become president because they believe they can do truly noble things to help others.

In Trump’s case…not a chance.

He just wanted to outdo George in pulling off the greatest lie of all-time.

Tell me I’m wrong.

George Costanza…Move Over, Buddy

I have my own theory on this. The George Costanza character and Donald Trump are both Queens guys in their collective hearts. My guess is…Trump was a huge Seinfeld fan and was duly impressed by the skill set George showed for lying out his ass.

Then Bannon came on the scene with his connection to the Seinfeld show and he encouraged Donald Trump to become the greatest liar the earth has ever seen. I mean…if these white people are stupid enough to believe it…is it really a lie?

We know Trump wasn’t smart enough to think of this himself. Connect the dots. It makes perfect sense.

World War II..never happened. Marshall Plan….never happened. NATO…fuck those deadbeats.

Obama born in Kenya…happened.

You have to give Trump and Bannon credit for correctly gauging the acumen of the average white voter in America.

Unfit For Office

The Lincoln Project is a group of Republicans who can’t take it anymore. They’re ashamed of what used to be their country and what now is their party.

Kellyanne Conway’s husband George is a prominent member of this group. That must be an interesting bedroom.

It wouldn’t shock me at all if some Oklahomans like Mick Cornett and Clay Bennett just to name two are quiet members of this organization. I can’t be a member only because I left the GOP in 2000. Sixteen years before Trump torched what was left of the GOP.

These are very sobering times. Historically sobering. I don’t even get any short-lived joy calling Trump a pathological liar on my blog any longer. It serves no purpose. It’s like piling on top of yourself.

I mean, what other result could you expect from a person who’s failed at every relationship and every business venture in his life? A person who has no regard for anyone other than himself? The guy doesn’t even have a dog primarily because he’s too selfish to take the time to show any affection to something other than his own insatiable ego.

How can any of this be a surprise to anyone?

The news from Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx today was beyond tough. Plus, there will be a March jobs report on Thursday which some say will show the current U.S. economy is nearing 17% unemployment.

Those aren’t 2008 numbers, those are numbers creeping towards Great Depression numbers of 25% unemployment.

Oklahoma will be totally f—-d. I would think it will start looking somewhat like the early 1980’s and the Penn Square collapse at some point. I wouldn’t want to be selling a home or any piece of commercial real estate anytime soon.

And yet Trumpster Fire will win Oklahoma again in the Electoral College by an easy margin. Not even close.

Texas Tech Beats Gonzaga To Advance To Final Four

Last year’s tournament was probably my fifth favorite Final Four of all-time because my wife went to Auburn, and my dad and I spent a New Years’ Eve in a sports bar in Lubbock called Rick’s Sports Bar.

That was the year OU played Boise in the Fiesta Bowl. Tech came back against Minnesota trailing 35-0 to win the game with Mike Leach as their coach before he went on to gain national fame for locking Adam James inside an equipment shed.

Suffice it to say I wasn’t a fan of Adam James. Leach got fired or quit or whatever. Then he got out of coaching for awhile, then he did a national radio sports show, then he wrote a national bestseller titled ‘Swing Your Sword’ which was about as funny as anything Dan Jenkins wrote back in the day.

Leach will be in the SEC this season I think at Miss State as OU’s only real hope is that Leach can totally screw up every SEC defense like he did to the other Big 12 teams during his stay at Tech.

The SEC West should be a gas this season. I still can’t believe Boren didn’t put OU in the SEC. Tragic, major miscalculation as to what OU truly is…that being, a nationally elite football program which just happens to have a school as well built around the football stadium. Truth hurts. OU’s culture is a picture perfect fit for the SEC even if some OU fans won’t admit it.

My other four favorite Final Fours were in ’88 when Billy and the Sooners made it to the Finals in Kemper versus Kansas. Then I’d have Eddie’s team with Big Country and Randy Rutherford. Fourth would be Kelvin’s team with Hollis Price and Quannas White. The last would be Eddie’s team with John Lucas Jr. and the Graham Brothers.

Anyway…I loved last year’s tournament with both Auburn and Texas Tech advancing to the Final Four.

If Auburn had advanced to Monday night against Tech I’m not really sure who I would have been rooting for…probably Auburn though because of the story of that team’s incredible run even after their best player got hurt.

But I love Chris Shaw as a coach so I would have been somewhat rooting for both teams.

It was a great Final Four with Michigan State and Virginia filling out the four.

Wife will be back at the Seminole ranch for her now week-end jaunts which gives me and the diva lab more space within the marriage. That was humor if you ever read the blog, Mindy. Of course, Pauli and I will be on the sofa with a couple of Cubans watching last year’s glorious Final Four.

War Eagle!

MJ’s Self-Intervention Day 5

It’s a good thing I stopped watching the Donald Trump coronavirus pressers. Because from what I saw on a PBS clip it appears Mr. Pillow was going down on Donald Trump with the entire world watching.

Glass half full take at least his hair looks better and is less orange as every day passes.

Two weeks ago this would have unnerved me. Today…..que sera. I’m getting better every day and in every way.

I got home early because of the rain and watched my favorite Jeff Bridges movie instead.

Good solid life decision.

Auburn Beats Kentucky To Advance To Final Four

Auburn 77 – Kentucky 71 OT

Our Elite 8 games would have been played this past week-end with the Final Four this week-end.

The world changed so much in a year. A year ago none of us had to think about social distancing or washing our hands on a schedule. Sports are what brought us together and made us a more tight knit nation.

Last year Auburn beat North Carolina and Kentucky back to back to advance to their first ever Final Four.

What a magical ride for Coach Bruce Pearl’s Auburn Tigers and their fans.

This is why we play, coach and watch sports.
