After Dark

I listened to Dionne Warwick music, burned a dead tree on the ranch, drank Coors Light, trained Pauli for her race, caught a nice bass, ate chicken marsala, and binge watched last year’s Stanley Cup Finals on Father’s Day. Perfect Father’s Day. Pretty much Bob Goulet singing My Favorite Things in my ear.

I miss hockey more than the NBA Playoffs truth be known. I’m ready to see the Bruins and Blues do it again. But overll…I’m not missing the sports like I thought I would.

Bob Stoops Marched With His Players

Here’s the difference betwen OU and O State…OU is an urban school and O State is a rural school. Blue and red. A micrososm of the divide in our country. I would say the blue at OU is a very light shade of blue.

O State is hard red to the core. I would be surprised if they have a regent who’s ever voted for a non-Republican in their life. I will say I do like Burns Hargis and I’ve never thought of him as a wingnut. In fact…I think he went to law school at OU.

But here’s the difference in the two schools. Stoops, Boren, and AD Joe Castiglione immediately closed down this fraternity and stood with their black players.

In Stillwater…Mike Gundy proudly wore the T-shirt of the Breitbart of the cable news business and he still has his job.

Don’t think black players and black parents will forget this. They won’t and they shouldn’t. Quality white players and parents…ditto.

I’m certainly not saying Bob Stoops was perfect over the years, but he stood with his players when they needed this from him.

Ask Cale Gundy who handled it right.

Deer Creek Weather Station

Third night in a row with storms hitting Deer Creek. 3.5″ in the official DCWS rain gauge since Friday. Much needed precip. When you get older…the rain gauge is a big deal. Trust me.

Pauli not at all fazed by the storms. She’s not a frilly fragile type as far as dogs. She stared down a mountain lion. Been there. Done that. F5 could hit us and she won’t drop the leather rawhide.

I think I’ll go out on the weather porch and smoke my first cigar since February even though Oklahoma now has the 13th highest number of new covid cases.

Those people in Tulsa last night should be put on mandatory home quarantine.

Selfish, selfish, typical Trump people. They have no concern for others at all. They think only of themselves. Very sad. If you looked at those people behind Trump last night I don’t think anyone would have ever confused them with Tulsa Mensa Convention participants. Just saying. It looked like a pro wrestling crowd or the Waffle House at midnight after a Thunder game to me. I wonder how many of those people even know what GDP stands for? I wonder how many know who Jerome Powell is? John Roberts? Just like most of Trump’s dumbass rallies.

Good for OKC Mayor Holt for not allowing that bullshit in Oklahoma City. But still it will have an impact on Oklahoma City. Kevin Stitt will be mentioned in the same breath with Mary Fallin with this type of decision making. Total Trump puppet.

Trump Rally Doesn’t Fill BOK Center in Tulsa

According to the most corrupt POTUS in American history there were one million requests for tickets to his first campaign rally in Tulsa on Saturday.

I think the BOK Center holds around 19,000 or so and perhaps about one-third of it was empty on Saturday evening in Tulsa. The outdoor arena which was put in place to facilitate the overflow crowd was at best sparsely attended. So sparsely attended post rally speeches scheduled there by both Trump and Mike Pence were cancelled.

I’m to assume Tiger King watched the rally from prison while Mullet King watched from Karsten Creek with his OAN shirt on. As to what happened with Terry Neese …I have no idea. But for all those ‘Oklahoma Strong’ whites in Oklahoma who don’t know any better….feel safe with the thought she’ll be around to protect the most corrupt president in American history.

Here’s the Trump Doctrine for you whites in Oklahoma who haven’t become millionaires in the past three and a half years…’Never give a sucker an even break and kick him when he’s down.’

Putting blacks, Muslims, Hispanics, Asians, and gays aside…here’s the real irony in all of this…Donald Trump’s policies perhaps have been the most punitive towards uneducated whites in this country who don’t read and who don’t take the time to learn anything of objective tangible financial value.

The same whites who floundered from 2009-2017 are pretty much where they were after the financial collapse in 2008.

I hate to be this way towards some of you white people. But really…c’mon. This is embarrassing for you. Quit worrying about the blacks, Muslims, Hispanics, Asians and gays. Instead…educate yourselves and learn how the American free enterprise system works. Learn how to accrue, grow, and maintain individual worth so as you won’t ever embarrass yourselves again as you’ve done these past three and half years.

Whites in Oklahoma simply have to be better than this. Being the dumbest state in the country is not acceptable. No way. You owe this to your children and grand-children.

Be kind. Be inclusive. We’re all in this together. You know you’re better than this. You have to be.

Have a nice Father’s Day.

Smerconish Saturday Poll

Michael had a good show this morning. The poll question itself was weak though.

Should people wear masks in large public gatherings like the one in Tulsa tonight?

With over 20,000 people voting it is not surprising 95% of the voters responded yes… “You clueless dumbshit inbred Dust Bowl Okies should be wearing masks tonight inside the BOK Center”. I’m to assume Joe Exotic and Mullet King didn’t vote because Michael Smerconish isn’t a real Oklahoma Republican like Trump or Terry Neese.

Thinking of Terry Neese…I wonder if she’ll charge the stage tonight… take off her top, and ‘protect Donald Trump’ with her breasts onstage at the rally. That’s kind of what I wrote on Daily Thunder which got me banned. But since I push the buttons on this blog and have a fervent belief in the First Amendment I won’t be banned.

Daily Thunder=Jim Traber. Just saying. If you can’t handle the heat don’t have a public phony messageboard like when Traber takes calls and then cuts people off with a button.

Michael had another poll late in the show run by Gallop which has been administered in America twenty years in a row.

The question is How Proud Are You To Be An American Right Now?

I answered I’m extremely proud to still be an American…as did Michael S.

63% of those polled answered like I did. Although this is an all-time low percentage in the poll for people answering, like me, they’re still extremely proud to be American in spite of the gutter grifter Trump.

Just this week John Roberts and Neil Gorsuch both stood up to Trump and in essence defeated him in two different U.S. Supreme Court rulings which were both 5-4 votes. Our system works. Just shed the human junk bond in November.

The flip side is I’m embarrassed, ashamed, and disgraced to live in a state like Oklahoma which has this many people within its tax jurisdiction who behaves as if George Wallace is the sitting governor in the early sixties.

Be safe in Tulsa tonight.

Trump Supporters in Tulsa

I need to do a Smerconish Saturday since I was too busy last week-end. I’m fairly certain Trump in Tulsa with his first rally since the outbreak of the coronavirus will consume most of Michael’s show today.

Simply stunning that governor Kevin Stitt and the mayor of Tulsa are going to allow an estimated 100,000 visitors in Tulsa this week-end .

It hasn’t been a banner three months for Oklahoma image-wise. It almost appears the state wants to claim the banner of the Dumbest State in America hands down.

It’s disheartening to observe.

Even for Oklahoma it has been a time of the state becoming a complete caricture of stupidity. As if the state wants to wear its stupidity on its chest as some medal of honor.

Oklahoma has so much potential which has been flushed down a collective toilet since the election of Mary Fallin a decade ago.

The presence of the NBA in this state could have elevated the image of Oklahoma given the franchise itself did what I think is a decent job. But it’s like the deal with Boone at O State or the Kaiser Foundation in Tulsa or with the Clay Bennett group in Oklahoma City… the white rural faction of the Tea Party seems determined to make Oklahoma a national joke.

Money has been thrown at the people in Oklahoma. The state is one of the leading states in the union which siphons off tax dollars from other states. And yet these people in Oklahoma strut around as if they’re the masters of Darwinian laissez-faire free enterprise doctrines.

No. Not so.

Hopefully—it won’t be too bad in Tulsa this week-end.

Pray for Oklahoma.

After Dark

Tomorrow in Tulsa does not make me feel at ease. It reminds of the ending in John Grisham’s ‘A Time to Kill’ in the streets of Clanton, Mississippi.

I’ve made my feelings very clear on this blog in regards to Donald Trump.

I’m praying for Donald Trump tonight.

I’m praying that for one time in his miserable selfish existence he can find it in himself to display empathy and some grace for others in Tulsa tomorrow.

One time.

One time in his presidency he could take the high ground and be a leader instead of a punk.

Pray hard for Donald Trump tonight.

Should Joe Exotic Replace Burns Hargis as President of O-State?

I know…I know… Joe Exotic is slated to be in federal prsion for the next twenty-two years, but the notion Mike Gundy and Joe Exotic aren’t tied together in some tangible manner seems wrong to me.

If the regents at O State could just combine Joe Exotic and the Mullet King together I feel almost certain O State would emerge as the Notre Dame of the southwest.

Are there any federal or state statutes which prohit one in federal prison from serving as the president of a state funded university in Oklahoma?

There could be in the other forty-nine states, but at this point I feel confident 80% of Oklahomans would be okay with someone in federal prison running Oklahoma State University.

It just seems like obvious destiny to me. Who knows… Gundy might even discover something new about himself at this point in his mid-life Mullet King existence?

One hundred thousand people bent on becoming covid positive expected in Tulsa tomorrow. Is this a great state or what?

I tell you it is a tough, tough gig living in Oklahoma.

Tough gig.

This is why it’s nice for me, the wife, and the lab to have a place in the woods in Deer Creek where you can pretend none of these people really exist.
