It’s Veteran’s Day and John McCain is the first person I always think of on this special national holiday. I think of his story as a POW in Vietnam as he displayed a special courage as a man, an officer, and a patriot.

Politically…I’m probably what one might call a John McCain Republican. But since a Republican Party no longer exists I would currently decribe myself as an independent centrist who leans left on several social issues. In no way have I ever considered myself an ideologue either to the left or right.

In the twelve presidential elections I’ve been eligible to vote in…I’ve voted Republican six times, Democratic five times, and for an independent once. The independent was John Anderson in 1980.

I voted for Barack Obama twice, wrote in John McCain in 2016, and just voted for Joe Biden.

People on the far right would call me a squish or a RHINO for the manner of which I’ve veered left as I’ve grown older. I’d like to think with age and a more complete life experience….. I’ve learned from some of my mistakes and become a little smarter… and a little more empathetic to the big picture of life. I hope so.

We could genuinely use John McCain in the United States Senate right now. Our country could use someone from that side of the aisle who wouldn’t conduct his business in the senate chamber as a completely feckless coward with not a shread of courage to stand up to the never ending nonsense which has been enabled by the fifty-three GOP senators…Mitt Romney included.

Perhaps it was what John McCain learned as a Vietnam POW which made him so different from politicans who didn’t serve their country. Perhaps…if Donald Trump’s father had sent his son to Vietnam we would see a much more mature, sincere, genuine human being who held the highest office in the world and disgraced that office almost every day for four years. If you want to be a Twitter rock star…then be Charlie Sheen–not the leader of the free democratic world.

Maybe in four years…John McCainn could have had an impact on Donald Trump and made him a slightly better man. Probably not since Donald Trump never thinks or acts on behalf on anythig else but his own ego. But John McCain possibly could have had an impact on Donald Trump. But then again we’ve seen how Lindsey Graham turned out. Donald Trump evolving as a man probably wasn’t in any set of cards.

We do know this from this concession speech….Barack Obama made John McCain a better man and vice versa.

John McCain would have been on the phone with Joe Biden the day after this election offering help. That’s what a real hero and a patriot does.

Richard Nixon was Dwight D. Eisenhower’s vice-president for two terms. In the election of 1960… Nixon lost by a razor thin margin and went against the wishes of some in his party by not contesting the results in some Chicago voting precincts.

EVEN Richard Nixon the father of the Solid South and the Silent Majority understood that at some point the country comes first.

What a quaint adorable notion as we watch how Donald Trump and his supporters are dealing with the aftermath of last week’s election results.

As an older person who was once a Republican… I find it sad and stunning to witness how far the Republican Party has fallen off the edge of the earth in these four years of Donald Trump.

Good luck, Joe Biden. You’re going to need not only some luck but a miracle to change the level of discourse in America.

I haven’t officially declared Joe Biden the winner on my blog for the simple reason the legal war is about to begin from Donald Trump, Lindsey Graham, Rudy Guiliani and others.

My greatest fear for American democracy is what happens now in these next two months.

Donald Trump’s life is a history of never displaying any class or any decency whatsoever. I cannot imagine this is going to change at this point in his life. Once a rogue con artist always a grifter.

Other than Mitt Romney not one sitting United States senator has acknowledged Joe Biden as the winner in this election.

Not one.

The exact same set of dynamics which we witnessed at the impeachment trial of Donald Trump.

So remembering how it went in 2000 in the United States Supreme Court…I’m going to hold off declaring Joe Biden as America’s officially elected 46th POTUS.

These are the times we live in. I watched this video of Gore’s concession speech and it seems like three lifetimes ago as to what America was and what it has become in these past four years. Gore seems so sweet and innocent as he discusses the value of America’s role as the world leader of democratic nations.

Plus, there’s the two United States senate runoff elections in Georgia which could sway the voting majority in the senate.

Nothing yet has changed. The Republican senators are still terrified of Donald Trump and minus Mitt Romney not one has displayed any political courage whatsoever.

It baffles me as to how John McCain ever embraced Lindsey Graham as a close friend.

Somewhere around 90% of Christian evangelicals voted for Donald Trump this past Tuesday in Oklahoma. To be blunt and to the point…this is why Oklahoma will continue to remain a backwards shithole state which doesn’t keep pace within an everchanging world.

If this is the leader of the Christian evangelical movement it doesn’t say much if anything for the movement. It says to me pray at home for your own spiritual needs and live the Golden Rule at a higher level than Donald Trump.

I cannot fathom how any person who claims to believe in the New Testament can defend their position in voting for Donald Trump twice.

Vince Bugliosi and F. Lee Baily couldn’t defend your position on their best days in their prime.

Truth hurts.

It is being reported Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump are both trying to talk Donald Trump into conceding the election. Even they are embarrassed by the level of complete stupidity their father has come to represent from a historical prism.

Even with as many low moments this president has given historians to rate him as the worst ever…Trump seems determined to knock it out of the ballpark in surpassing James Buchanan as the worst president in American history.

It is what it is. When you have half or even more of your population who don’t read and have little if any intellectual curisosity this is what happens. Ignorant democracies are doomed to fail. Half of America is clearly on this track. You can argue which half…but if you honestly believe Donald Trump’s vision of America’s future is the correct path then I don’t know what to say to you.

Stupid isn’t a winning hand circa 2020. The world is a very complex place. If you think I’m writing total bullshit then ask yourself why Oklahoma ranks at the bottom of every list you don’t want to be on the bottom of. Education matters. Reading matters. Avoidance of being the dumbest red state in the country matters.

Good luck with that path.

Donald Trump now becomes the 13th one term POTUS in American history. In my lifetime there has been Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Bush 41, and now the pussy grabber.

Of those four…. Trump stands easily as the worst based on his complete ignorance of the United States constitution and the complete wreakage he wreaked upon America’s standing in the world. We won’t even get to the current 20 million who are unemployed, his deficits, or the current condition of GDP in relation to total budgetary debt during his four years in office. I’ll leave that to others at the Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor.

It is what it is.

Be kind to others and do the best you can would be my advice moving forward. Maybe reading a legitimate book now and again wouldn’t hurt either.

It’s time we cut to the chase and cease with the bullshit from both sides. This isn’t going to work having two countries within one border. Joe Biden is going to win the election, but somewhere around seventy million people voted for titular face of the Christian evangelical movement of pussy grabbers.

This isn’t going to work… besides the Trump states minus Texas and Florida are pretty much financial deadbeat states which have to be constantly propped by federal dollars to keep states like Oklahoma and Alabama afloat.

The red states don’t pull their weight economically and it’s not going to change because for the most part these states don’t value education in relation to keeping up with the rapidly everchanging world.

Florida and Texas are the outliers demographically. I’m not sure the Union should get rid of either. Plus…you want the oil and natural gas in Texas. In reality…Oklahoma never should have been allowed to become a state and should either be annexed by Texas or revert to Indian Territory. If Mary Fallin and Kevin Stitt are the best this state can muster…then it shouldn’t remain a state. They obviously don’t have enough smart people to run a positive cash flow operation.

That entire SEC West mass of states from the Missouri-Arkansas region to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama along with South Carolina should be allowed to secede. West Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky for certain should be included in this group. I’m not sure about North Carolina. Enough already they hate the Union. Turn them loose. It will require nuance for certain.

But in the end these people aren’t changing. This is who they are. This is their DNA. Boone Pickens dropped around a billion at O State and couldn’t even get Gundy to cut his mullet. Nothing is going to change.

Tourism, NASCAR, and cable entertainment ventures like Tiger King will be their brand along with SEC football. They will offer some of the best cuisine in the country while they can remain racist and continue to be math/science deniers. Nick Saban, Tommy Tuberville, or Mike Gundy will succeed Trump at some point. They can completely turn their noses to math and science and not have to feel any longer the coastal elites are mocking them.

Currency issues and other issues such as military bases will require some genuine thought and nuance. And of course since all these Confederates are Darwinian laissez-faire big time thinkers none of them will take their Medicare, Social Security, or Medicaid benefits with them to next frontier. They hate FDR…so let them go.

Joe Biden is a really nice man, but he’s not changing anything with these people. It’s who they are given they never came to terms with the Civil War.

So instead of ruining the United States why not try something else these people can live with inside their own Confederacy bubble existence.

Turn ’em loose.

When you have a base which doesn’t read and only watches Fox for their take on the world this is what happens. A book, even one with pictures only every now and then would be helpful.

Any topic…just a book to keep them off Fox and rotting their brains. This should have been Melania’s mission instead of policing internet bullying. I think we have to give her an F on the internet bullying program Just saying.

I’m actually thinking about my dad right now and I’m crying. I’m thinking about the time in the late 1950’s in which my father and Joe Carter Sr. were refused service in a downtown Oklahoma City cafe because Joe was black.

My dad told the owner of the cafe to go to hell. He and Joe then sat on a curb and ate some sandwiches they bought at a nearby convenience store. A lifetime friendship fell into place. One of affection and deep mutual respect.

Fast forward to today and I’m thinking about James Clyburn and his friend Joe Biden. I’m thinking of how Joe Biden wouldn’t be on the cusp of being president elect if James Clyburn hadn’t stood by Biden in South Carolina when it appeared Biden’s candidacy was dead in the water.

I’m also thinking if not for the black voters in Atlanta, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Philadelphia we’d be looking at another four years of Donald Trump.

Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. I was wrong about Georgia. An SEC football state actually stood up to the Birther racist Donald Trump. Go figure this could happen in Richard Nixon, George Wallace, and Donald Trump’s Solid South. But it did. To me this is the single most encouraging thing in this election in that a southern confederate state went for a ticket with a female black liberal alongside Joe Biden. I didn’t think this was doable.

The confederacy never ended. They’ve never accepted the fact they lost the Civil War, but gladly accept monies from the U.S. Treasury via other states in the Union to prop them up economically.

So as we move along this process with Trump and his lawyers there is some hope for the South. Maybe just a glimmer, but some hope beyond SEC West football.

Hope is a good thing.

I challenge any white Trump supporter in Oklahoma to tell me with a straight face if they’d have had a problem with a black policeman murdering George Floyd if he were white.

Really. Think about it for a day. Try and forget the individual and corporate effective marginal rates and think about what if George Floyd was white. Then maybe you’ll understand some of what just happened in certain cities in our country in this election.

Like Joe Biden…I don’t want to gloat to any of my Trump friends or relatives who voted for this miserable piece of shit. My little neighbor next door in his MAGA cap and red Trump shirt looked suicidal earlier this evening.

It’s not offically over yet. Nevada is still in play.

I know this is tough for you people…especially the Christian evangelicals who basically have ignored every word and verse in the Bible these past four years.

I am not going to gloat or troll or torture any of you people who disgraced yourself for voting for this piece of shit TWO TIMES.

I would never tie any of you in a chair, set you on fire, and cut your ears off.

This is a time to heal as one.

I would never remind any of you Donald Trump is on the cusp of becoming the first POTUS since 41 in 1992 to become a one termer. How ironic that a president as qualified as Bush 41 met the the same second term fate as the human junk bond.

Of course…President Obama served two terms and has an approval rating of 92% or so.

We all know that will never grate on Donald Trump. For you Trump zombies that was sarcasm.

We are all in this together.

This is not a time to mock or torture others in their down moment.

This is a time to come together as a nation.

God bless America, God bless Sleepy Joe Biden, and God bless the right to vote in our democracy.

Donald…you’re fired, buddy. Go home. It’s time to go home.

Doug Jones is a Democrat in Alabama who won the U.S. Senate seat after Jeff Sessions was picked as Donald Trump’s first attorney general in the rogue red state of Alabama. Somehow Jones won the special election when the GOP in Alabama nominated the Love Judge Roy whaatever his name was as their candidate.

Even before Jones took the Senate floor and gave what I thought was the best speech of the impeachment trial he never had a chance in Alabama. No way. Oklahoma and Alabama are almost identical politically. No chance…no way.

Great speech. I called his office and told one of his aides as much. Honest politicians are like dogs who play in the street. Neither lasts very long.

He did the right thing though. His family should be proud of him.

I wonder what would have happened if Saban had run against Tommy Tuberville?

I don’t know.

I might want to think about that a bit. Who would carry all the rural counties in Alabama?

Like in Oklahoma. If Mike ‘Mullet King’ Gundy ran on the GOP ticket versus Lincoln Riley as a Dem … I would assume Mullet King would would win that senate race in rogue red Oklahoma by a comfortable margin even though none of his teams have done anything since 2011.

BTW…Gundy should grow the mullet back. What kind of man allows Mike Holder to tell him to cut his mullet. Grow the mullet back…Mike Gundy. I have to admit…I miss the mullet.
