I’m getting where I get some good questions on my private box here at the blog and I’d like to start featuring one a week since we’re one football game away from the end of football for six months.
Twitter is something I would never consider. I’d kill it on Twitter, but my greatest fear is that as a grandfather I’m too old to become President of the United States. God made me for Twitter, but I’m too old for that at this juncture.
Message board? Not a chance. I did that once with a hockey site I had and I ended up getting death threats from multiple Edmond hockey mothers. Maybe the lowest point in my adult life. Been there. Done that. I’d rather have cancer than a message board.
So I’d like to feature a question each week as we begin to head into the goal achieving portion of the basketball season.
My first question is from Sondra in Malibu:
Mike,
Love the blog. I can’t believe someone like you actually lives in Oklahoma. Don’t ever change the way you blog.
I’m a huge Laker fan. What do we do with Russell Westbrook? Any suggestions?
Sondra,
Thanks for reading the blog and the extremely kind comments.
Whew…what a question. Other than having Russell either murdered or kidnapped and held in private captivity till the end of the season…there’s not a great deal GM Rob Pelinka or coach Frank Vogel can do at this point.
No one in the league is going to touch that absurd contract of Russell’s. This is how absurd that contract is…Lu Dort and Kenrich Williams could both help the Lakers. Off the top of my head trying to remember what year Russell’s contract is in… Lu and Kenrich make a combined $40 million less than Russell. If that isn’t an indictment on Sam Presti’s decision making then I don’t know what is.
If Russell isn’t going to listen to LeBron….I don’t know what else to write. Maybe Jack Nicholson could have a talk with him. I don’t know. And even if the Lakers hypothetically murdered Russell then they’d still have to pay off the contract plus punitive damages from a wrongful death civil lawsuit.
So I guess my advice is …write off this season and hope the Rams win on Sunday and hope the baseball strike gets resolved so you can attend Dodger games this summer.
Take care.
