No sports or snide comments in regards to Bad Bunny and Kid Rock. Let the rabble on both sides listen to what they may. At this point…I could care less. I have other things on my mind in regards to the cancer journey.
Tomorrow I begin the process of my next cancer drug. It isn’t chemo. It’s a new wonder drug which doesn’t obliterate my blood cells. It merely targets specific areas of concern like a drone hitting its target.
I’ve had a wonderful, blessed life either way this goes. My cup has runneth over…I can assure you of that. No regrets.
So I was thinking to myself yesterday…what is my favorite rock song of all-time? One which was concurrent with my coming of age as high schooler at John Marshall?
And it was easy once I allowed my mind roll back over all the wonderful memories. All the friends. The memories still with me.
And this is the song.
The song my buddy Rod ‘The Mule’ Carter (our place kicker) turned me onto in the locker room. Rod was trip. He quit being an offensive lineman after he parlayed an injury to our kicker his junior season to an All-City nomination.
He then told our offensive line coach he would never again practice as a lineman. He then told me his plan. He woud go to OU as a walkon and become Barry Switzer’s placekicker.
I almost told him Switzer had just signed a kicker named Uwe von Schamon. But I didn’t. I didn’t want to discourage him of ruon his plan.
So he went to OU…kicked well at his tryout and was told he could be a practice kicker. Rod thought it over and decided he’d get an enginneering degree instead, Which he did.
But for that moment, that instant…Rod was Almost Famous.
This became my coming of age song.
Have a nice evening.
