Not really all that surprised, in fact, if form holds true, I wouldn’t at all be shocked if we drop a random bomb somewhere in the world in the next 48 hour news cycle. It’s very simple at this point, either some Republican senators at some point will standup for the constitution or they’ll just continue to use Donald Trump to get their legislative agenda passed.
Even Richard Nixon never fired an FBI director. We’ve all made the Nixon comparisons, but I’m not sure even Nixon was as insecure and dysfunctional as Caligula Lite.
His core probably thinks this is a great day and the way our constitution should work. I wonder why though Comey wasn’t dismissed in the first week of Caligula’s presidency and why the shoe dropped now?
It will be interesting to see at what point Comey makes a public statement on the Russian probe or if he stays silent.
At some point this will either be checked by the Republican controlled Congress or it won’t.
And BTW, this is why the nomination and confirmation of an extremely weak lawyer such as Jeff Sessions was and is a very big thing as to how our system works.
