At some point, one might hope there’s at least one or two Republican senators who display a shred of courage and character. To date, I haven’t observed one. Not one. They just teeter their party line in the hopes they can get their tax break passed for the most affluent Americans. It’s genuinely pathetic. But it is what it is. It’s ironic in that the GOP is the party most affiliated with the military and religious right voting bases. They must have a different Book of Corinthians than the one I’ve read. No matter what line Trump crosses, nothing seems to bother these people.
I see no Howard Baker on the horizon. John McCain and Lindsey Graham only talk then go poof into the night. BTW, I read a book of McCain’s called Profiles of Courage. He might want to read it at some point. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz are collective political frauds. I can’t think of one GOP senator who is a statesman of any kind. And I have very little faith the Senate Intel Committee can go beyond political boundaries.
Anyway, this is an interesting clip from Howard Baker when he knew it was more important being an American than a Republican. He wouldn’t last a week in 2017. Not a week.
Hypocrisy. Hypocrisy would be the key word moving forward. Complete and total unabashed hypocrisy from the right.
