I voted for 41 twice and didn’t vote for 43 either time he ran for president. But my view of 43 has changed over the years especially after witnessing two years of Donald Trump being the Pretender in Chief.
When I read 43’s memoir to his father several years back it genuinely touched me. I read the book as my own father was fighting a losing battle with pancreatic cancer. Yesterday’s eulogy cemented not only my feelings for 41 as a president I truly respected, but won me over even more for the son despite his shortcomings while in office. Historically…some presidents grow more when out of office than when in office. I think Jimmy Carter would be an example. I think Bill Clinton and 43 would be examples. Same with Barack Obama. I won’t be holding my breath while waiting for Donald Trump’s growth as a human when he leaves the Oval Office. It won’t be happening. He doesn’t have it in him. How sad not only for him and his followers, but for our country as well. Truly sad.
