I like the way Dallas handled all of this tonight in Glendale. If the Thunder ever make a public display–this is the template I’d follow.
As a team they knelt in unison and prayed, then stood for the national anthem and were respectful to the men and women who have sacrificed for all us to enjoy Monday Night Football. I’m assuming Thunder owner Clay Bennett and Sam Presti would agree with me.
Nick Collison and Russell Westbrook are my two favorite Thunder players of all-time. Harden would be third. Durant fourth, and Serge Ibaka fifth. But Nick has always held a special place in my heart as a Thunder fan. It’s the selfless, tough, intelligent way he has played the game. He plays the game exactly as you’d expect the son of a coach to play the game.
He’s by far my favorite current Thunder player interview. Steven would be second, and Russ would be third. Russell has come a long way in this regard and I’m hoping we see even more of Russell as a person as this season moves along in his interview sessions.
So these are the three interviews I’m doing for Media Day.
Nick goes first. Maybe his last as an NBA player. Gulp. And, yes, he is asked about Caligula on here.
From Day 1, both Kerr and Poppovich have been consistent in their criticism of Donald Trump. Now, even Tom Brady and Robert Kraft from the Patriots have been critical of the NASCAR poster boy. Again, I don’t think anyone should be sitting out the national anthem. The national anthem and Donald Trump aren’t even remotely connected because he’s never once done anything patriotic in his life. He never served. He never sacrificed to fight for freedom. There’s not one single act in Donald Trump’s life which reflects service of country or anything of a nature of him doing anything which doesn’t serve his individual self interest.
So I wouldn’t confuse patriotism with Donald Trump. He avoids creditors through the nuance of our bankruptcy laws. He buys or leases trophy wives. No one for sure knows what he’s done with his taxes. I would guess this piece of shit laundered money in Wilbur Ross’s bank in Cypress or at least had assets bundled with Manafort. He moves heavily on married women, takes them furniture shopping, and then of course tries to fuck them like a bitch. You go NASCAR, you go boys. Know who attend your events. Maybe Saban should go all white with the Crimson Tide. Roll Tide. Go all white and see if you can beat Vanderbilt next season.
What I’m saying is don’t ever let this piece of dog shit alter your personal love of freedom and the American Dream. He’s not worth it.
Do we have a lot of lazy stupid white people in this country who haven’t been able to come to terms with globalization and why their lazy dumbass children have been left behind? Sure we do. But that’s on them because they didn’t raise their children right and instill a work ethic worthy of the American Dream. But don’t ever lose sight that for whatever America is working through right now it’s still the best thing going.
I was just kidding about moving to Toronto. It’s lovely, but fuck that. I’m an American!
This is a one year the future is now deal. Now way a small market team like OKC could keep these three stars beyond this year, but it makes for an intriguing NBA basketball season in Mystery, Alaska.
Can Carmelo put his ego to the side and play the Harden role? If I’m Billy Donovan, I start Patterson and bring Carmelo off the bench like Brooks did with Harden in 2012. There’s only so much iso ball you can play with these three together on the floor. Sure, I want Westbrook and Carmelo together at times, but to beat this Warriors team you have to possess a bench that scores with their bench units. BTW–you almost always see Durant or Curry sneaking out on the floor with those bench units. Fuck starting, it’s about winning a ring and who’s on the floor in the last eight minutes of the game. I’d play Carmelo 28-30 minutes a game and use him in multiple sets with various personnel.
But first, here’s Adrian Woj explaining how Sam Presti landed Carmelo in OKC. In essence, it was a free agent signing since Carmelo waived the no trade clause in his contract. Biggest free agent splash in Thunder history no doubt.
You reach a point in all of this when it would seem the sitting POTUS could act like an adult. One would think with pressing issues like North Korea, healthcare reform, Paul Manafort and Wilbur Ross laundering dirty Russian money in a Cypriot bank, etc. etc. that Caligula could pull it together.. but he can’t and never will because he’s just simply unfit for the office. I’m Vice-President of the HOA community I live in and I wouldn’t want the motherfucker serving on our board. I wouldn’t want the piece of shit living in the same zip code with me.
That said, if I’m a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers football there’s no way in hell I would ever allow this worthless motherfucker to inspire me to stay in the locker room during the playing of the national anthem. No way.
And here’s why…because countless brave men and women of every race and persuasion have sacrificed for me, for you, and for every football player and every basketball player in the NBA to have the liberty to pursue the American Dream.
Stand for the anthem is what I would do and then go to the White House and tell the motherfucker to his face what a complete piece of shit he is.
Freedom is a our most precious commodity. Don’t take it for granted. Be better than this flim flam con artist and the white trash who attend his rallies in Alabama and West Virginia.
This is about freedom. Stand for the anthem and know that the majority of Americans are with you… like Terry Bradshaw for instance. Or like me.
Rant over. Now I’m ready to focus on the Thunder beating the Golden State Warriors for the Western Conference Championship.
Interesting day. Sam Presti traded Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott, and a second round draft pick for Carmelo Anthony. It now gives OKC on paper perhaps the second best roster in the West only behind the Warriors since Houston was heavily in the hunt for Carmelo as well.
Let’s do this first and insert the number 115.
What does that mean? It means on most nights, OKC will need to score 115 points or more to emerge from the West against both Golden State and Houston.
Does this do it for them? I don’t know.
Obviously, OKC will have a formidable starting lineup of Westbrook, George, Melo, Adams, and Roberson. But will it mesh since the three stars, especially Westbrook and Melo, need the ball in their hands?
I’m hoping Billy Donovan will be innovative and find ways to in essence use Melo as a sixth man at times when the other team’s second unit is on the floor. Another words, mix and match Melo as often as possible to utilized his offensive game.
Great move by Presti whether it works or not. He has done everything humanly possible this off season to give Russell Westbrook a contending supporting cast.
Mission accomplished. Now we sit back and see if these three stars can mesh their games and give the Warriors a run.
I’m an Independent and I did it almost two decades before Joe Scarborough…so I have no problem whatsoever putting this on my blog. So…when exactly did the GOP become the official party of white dumbasses and NASCAR? From my vantage point, it was when they lowered themselves to putting Sarah Palin on their national ticket in 2008 and thus set the table for the dumbasses in the American Freedom Caucus to get behind Caligula’s birther movement.
This was good to see. It’s a reassuring that Caligula isn’t the only person using fake Twitter accounts and talking in the third person about himself. Trump used to do this in New York with the whole John Miller persona. I guess this is just kind of cathartic for Kevin given the whole booing and cupcake thing which transpired in Oklahoma City this past season. You would think and hope nearing the age of thirty he would have better things to do, but in his defense Caligula is in his seventies and pretty much doing the same thing. Maybe Kevin should go to the White House. He and Trump might actually have some common ground.
Durant can only aspire to being on this level of trolling. He has some work in front of him.

Caligula > Kevin Durant Know your wheelhouse, buddy. You’re not in his league.
One of my majors in college was history. I’m a junkie in that regard, but I always set aside the time to watch the films of Ken Burns. If only those fifty per cent of Americans who get their news from Facebook would watch quality films and read quality writers–I’m almost certain we wouldn’t be where we are as a country presently.
History should be our greatest teacher, yet in this country we seem to be regressing intellectually and morally with each passing day.
I look forward to watching this new Burn’s film because I’m sure we will see many significant similarities between 1968 and 2017 from a historical standpoint. But now is worse because of the intellectual and moral meltdown in this country.
For those of you who voted for Trump here’s the thing…Goldwater, Buckley, Reagan, Bush 41, Bush 43, McCain, Romney and almost every respected conservative columnist wouldn’t agree with you.
In the midst of perhaps the most tense situation since the Cuban Missile Crisis, our sitting president is tweeting memes of him hitting Hillary Clinton in the back of the head with a golf ball.
End of argument. We have the dumbest president of all-time and a core who aren’t much smarter. Please start watching PBS, quality films, and reading something other than Facebook. It’s embarrassing…seriously. In a country where there are so many inherit freedoms–you should explore all options.
OU took care of business improving to 3-0 with a going through the motions 56-14 win over a hapless Tulane squad.
Every OU football fan wants one thing to happen, that being, an OU-Alabama matchup in the national championship game. OU has won seven national championships in football. There is no fear of an Alabama team with Jalen Hurts as the opposing QB. None. OU has a pretty good track record over the years versus one dimensional quarterbacks.
In the 2000’s, OU is 3-0 head to head against Alabama. 1-0 versus Saben, 2-0 versus David Shula. With some of Big Game Bob’s tough big game losses over the years, not one of them came against Alabama. Again…one dimensional quarterbacks. I would guess off the top of my head Andrew McCarron is probably the most skilled passer Saben has had at Alabama.
But OU has to take care of business and there’s a thing called the Big 12 Championship Game being played in Jerry’s World this season. I have no idea how Maryland scored 51 points on Texas, but that Longhorn defense I saw last night has some skilled players on it. So OU has some work in front of them and one would think West Virginia and TCU could turn out to be decent teams. Time will tell. O State is a top seven team and OU could have to play them twice.
But it’s tempting to think about the Bama matchup considering this incident went on in the stands in the 2014 Sugar Bowl when OU beat Alabama 45-31.
How much you wanna bet this Alabama mom is a diehard Trump supporter?
I’m thinking I’d bet the proverbial house. Wouldn’t it be hilarious if that OU kid with the white waving towel ended up sitting next to her again? Life lesson #31…never wave a white towel at a Bama mom when they’re down by fourteen or more points. Hope that kid learned something from 2014… kid, don’t wave the towel. You almost got your buddy kicked to death. You can do that shit in a hockey game, but not when you’re next to an Alabama fan. Don’t wave the towel, buddy.
